Jul 2014 08

After 15 years of holding these awards it was decided that 2013 would be the final year of the PDMAs.

We felt that the platform of recognition we created had provided a great way for the industry to come together and grow into the mature scene it is today.

It helped recognise and promote DJs, artists, promoters and new talent and it also highlighted the ever increasing role and contribution producers make to the local club scene, however we feel that we had brought the awards as far as they could go.

With the Perth dance music scene no longer being the young fledgling it used to be, we felt it was the right time to wind up the PDMAs.

We would like to sincerely thank all the sponsors and supporters who helped us over the years.

PDMA Finalists Announcement
Nov 2013 27

From all counts it appears we have survived the madness that was the voting period for the 2013 PDMAs. And now that it’s over, we bet everyone is chomping at the bit to see who the finalists are!

Well, wait no longer eager beavers! For the first time ever in the history of the PDMAs we have a three way tie for Best House DJ and a draw for Best MC! Congratulations to all of our finalists, it won’t be long now until the winner will be announced at the free awards party on Sunday 8th Dec at The Court Hotel.

Our regular hosts, Dart and Blend, will be running the show once again along with our pick of local DJs that we know will keep you in the party mood. Thanks to Mellen Events and Boomtick, we also have a swag of prizes to give away. Keep an ear out for the comps that Dart & Blend will be running throughout the day!

We are all looking forward to seeing everyone come down this year to the Court to share in the excitement and the glory as we announce the winners for 2013. The PDMAs always promises to be one of the highlight events of the year, where we all have the opportunity to catch up, give thanks and get loose! See YOU there.

Awards Party!!0

Posted In News

It’s one week until the Top 3 are announced on the 27th November! What are your predictions for this year? The excitement here at the PDMAs is palpable! Well, to give you time to compose yourselves, check out the specially crafted local line-up we have planned for the 2013 Awards Party:

Craig Hollywood
Flex
Illuminor
Miss Demeanour b2b DNGRFLD
Philly Blunt
Puff
Sistym b2b Gracie
Timbee

The awards Party kicks off at 3PM on 8th December at The Court Hotel wrapping up at midnight – make sure you’ve booked the day after off for your post-party cheeseburger runs! The event is hosted by our beloved Dart and Blend, who will once again be regaling us with their endearing antics and outrageously entertaining give-away gimmicks. We have tickets to Breakfest and Future Music Festival to give away this year – YEOW! And if you weren’t aware, the Awards Party is FREE, top that!

Here is some more information on our fantastic line-up for this year’s party:

Craig Hollywood
Three time PDMA winner for DJ’ing and his services at RTRFM 92.1, Craig Hollywood has shared the stage with some of the world’s heavy hitting techno artists such as Robert Hood, Richie Hawtin, Shed and too many more to mention. You can hear Craig on the airwaves Saturday nights on RTRFM’s “Trainwreck” and weekdays on “Full Frequency”.

Flex
Flex has been leading figure in the Perth dance scene for almost 20 years, consistently holding down residencies at Perth’s premier underground venues including DC’s, Shape, Ambar & Geisha, yet always remaining fresh. He has appeared at all of Australia’s major festivals including Breakfest, Parklife, Gatecrasher, Global Gathering, Summerdayze, Two Tribes, Ministry Of Sound, Future Music Festival & Stereosonic, and has been a six time winner at the Perth Dance Music Awards. Not only that, he is also the mastermind behind one of Perth’s leading event brands Habitat. Flex is an unstoppable force !

Illuminor
Forged on the back of a friendship and common love of pure and melodic music, Michael and Joe formed the duo Illuminor. Boasting breathtaking and unforgettable experiences, Illuminor have held headlining slots at festivals such as Creamfields and Stereosonic next to Armin Van Burin and Ferry Corsten, whilst their collaboration productions have found their way into the sets Paul Van Dyk, Markus Shulz and more. This dynamic duo is set to rock “That Way”.

Miss Demeanour b2b DNGRFLD
DNGRFLD and Miss Demeanour have known each other since birth, they should, they are brother and sister! Although they share the same mother they have completely different styles, DNGRFLD spanning sounds across most bass orientated genres while Miss D playing strictly banging break beat. Back to back they share one objective to fill the dance floor and lock them in until the end.

Philly Blunt
Where does one start in describing the wonders you might uncover when you see Philly Blunt’s name on the lineup? Philly is one of Perth’s Dance Music and local nightclub fixtures. He has run successful nights such as Bootleg and Force Majeure, and runs the PDMA winning label ‘Grits N Gravy Records’. He is also one part of the infamous ‘Black & Blunt’, that have been delighting music lovers with their production and energetic sets at clubs and festivals Australia wide.

Puff
The moniker, Puff, has been synonymous with the Perth techno scene for over 18 years. Debuting at the infamous Infirmary club in the mid 1990’s, he also played at just about every festival, Techno gig and club in town as well. During this period, he also held tenure at the seminal Delirium festivals, supporting names such as Carl Cox, Luke Slater, Adam Beyer, Jeff Mills, Stacy Pullen, Surgeon, Ben Sims, Richie Hawtin and Sven Vath to name but a handful. Together with his long time friend, MRW, they ran the legendary Trancemit and Acid Test parties, regularly selling out venues while playing nothing but pure techno in the days where needle & vinyl were king. In 2000, Puff won the PDMA title of Best Techno & Tech-house DJ after 6 years coming a close second to his mentor, MRW.

Sistym b2b Gracie
Gracie and Sistym may be small in stature, but they have built a big reputation over the past couple of years as quality selectors, forging their mark on the testosterone dominated dance music scene as Perth’s premier female drum and bass DJs. As Inhibit Promotion residents, this has seen them support international heavyweights such as dBridge, Black Sun Empire, Brookes Brothers and Matrix & Futurebound. 2013 has seen then make their debut major festival appearance at Fuzzy’s inaugural Listen Out as well as regular bookings at respected venues such as Ambar, Geisha Bar, Shape and Villa.

Timbee
Djing since the ripe age of 16, Timbee is the resident DJ at the two largest gay venues in Perth, The Court and Connections Nightclub but has made his mark on WA scene at large by taking home a PDMA for best house DJ in 2011 and nominations in 2012, along with WA favourite DJ and Entertainer of the year in 2011 and 2012 by Pride WA and OutinPerth. He believes a good balance of hot vocals, deep infectious bass, buzzing electro sounds and just the right amount of rainbows is required to have the most fun on stage.
